Oh my Mom. Give her a task and she is a happy woman! I am pretty happy today myself. I am home with my boy, Papa. All is right with the world if you are home with the ones you love.
Mom has been pretty busy since we left Cedar. So busy she didn’t even brush me the other morning…something about getting a haircut so she can color her hair. My bow is lopsided. I am not pleased about that! On the other hand, can’t wait to see what color Mom’s hair will be. You never know. I heard her tell Papa that someday she expects it to turn green. Can’t wait to see that!
We are going to a dog show. The ‘we’ is Clarice, Dee, mom and me! Guess where I sat the whole trip! Right on Dee’s lap - told you I would! I figured out if you wiggle just enough she will move her legs until you get just comfortable enough to enjoy the ride. Took her awhile to figure out I needed her to bunch up the blanket a bit so I could have a pillow. Slow learner!
We started our dog show with a trip to the vet for Clarice. Remember I told you Mom thought she had a heart murmur….well, Dr. Lesser said she had a musical tone to her heart but no murmur. Is that what it means to make “your heart sing”? I knew Clarice had a good heart! Now we even have a picture of it!
We all went to bed really early…and very happy!
The Dog Show
Are you kidding me…grass!! Mom knows exactly how I feel about that stuff. It should have been no surprise that walking around the show ring was not going to happen. OMG! The grass at this show was NOT manicured like the stuff at home. NO, NO! I am not walking on it.
Mom said she wish she had a video of me in the ring. She gives me credit…It is very hard to lift one foot at a time…and then hop over the long blades of grass. Mom said I looked like a cat on a hot roof! Don’t like grass – never have – never will! Mom said from now on Papa is taking me to the shows!! They better be indoors because I am not walking on grass for him either!
Have to hand it to Clarice. She does whatever Mom tells her, even walking on grass. Guess I have to admit she did look a bit better than I did. Didn’t seem to mind that her feet were touching damp dirty grass. Yuck! That is a cavalier for you…always trying to please!
Yea, ok so she did win…big deal! Guess Mom thought it was a pretty big deal. She was so excited that Clarice won Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex over two specials. She says, “It was a very nice win”.
She wasn’t too thrilled with my Reserve…I got two of them.
She was lots more excited to see three of her puppies with their new owners then to get reserve with me. Baxter (aka Billy), Oliver and Jack came to visit. Mom says they looked very happy which makes her happy.
Sunday was real exciting. Mom and Dee were waiting for Rocco to come. If you remember, Rocco was Johnny, Josie’s brother, who is now Simon. Papa calls him Johnny-Rocco-Simon. His owner, Kim, was allergic. She was very sad when she had to give him back to Mom…heck, I was very sad too. Who wants another cavalier to train! Mom said she was doing the right thing and that there would be another pup to fill the hole he left…just make sure he is hypoallergenic…now that I had to look up! It’s just a dog that won’t make you sneeze and stuff. I’m hypoallergenic!!
Simon had to ride in the crate all the way home. Yes, of course, I rode on Dee’s lap. Did you think I would let them put me in a crate for the trip home – after all they put me through!
Yes Mom…I know back to Simon. Mom tells me that the name Simon came from was another one of her very favorite dogs that was a tri color cavalier too. So it was fitting that Rocco become Simon. His AKC name is Panetti’s Return to Sender! That came from Papa...he is so good at finding just the right name.
Seems to me like Simon has never really left here. He plays and plays with Josie and Andrea. Mom says that is good because Josie has so much energy. He loves the litter box so Mom has to get a short fence to keep him…and Josie too – away from it. Other than that he is OK…sleeps in bed and doesn’t snore!
For a cavalier, he is pretty handsome. He will be going to shows…good then maybe I can stay home!
Mom says things always happen for a reason. There are no accidents or mistakes, just opportunities that are wrapped in a different kind of way! That’s what she believes anyway.
Welcome home Simon. OK so maybe we did miss you just a little! Keep Josie off my back – I’ll be happy!

( 3 / 118 )I am all confused. I don’t know what day it is or where I am anymore. First, I am enjoying the cool breeze on the porch in Cedar then I find myself in a hot house in Vegas! Then...yes there is more…I end up in a hot, humid place with grass. That I understand was a dog show…I am just all turned around! I'll tell you all about the dog show later.
Just where is my porch with a nice breeze blowing through my hair. I know, I am such a princess! Deal with it! Mom said I could be a Snow Princess. It is suppose to snow in Cedar. I love snow! Well, I know I will love it as soon as I figure out what it is! No Sally, I am not looking snow up in the dictionary...today I am just venting all day!
Of course with all the changes in the last few days I have decided to test Mom on my eating again…see if she is still just going to let me starve! I didn’t have my breakfast. She said it was going to be very hungry out. How does she know that?
Now seriously, do you know that one night I actually drove Mom to drink? She says she is not a drinking woman…although I see her with a bottle all the time. Mom says the bottle is water…OK, if that is what you say it is!
Anyway, she made me the greatest meal…she arranged it on a nice plate. All my favorites too! I even gave her a bit of encouragement by standing around like I was interested. Her hopes were soaring! I just couldn’t help myself. She was so sure that I was going to eat it all. She looked pleased with herself. Yes, of course I turned my nose up – it was hard to do because it did smell really good. But I have to maintain my status as the World's Biggest Pain!
Boy Mom was so calm about it. She was almost too calm for a New York Italian! I have seen Mom being a real New York Italian once or twice...not a pretty site. Here I go again digressing...
After only a nanosecond...which is a very, very short second. She just picked up the plate, never said a word! She went to the refrigerator and took out a bottle that she called, her new friend Bailey’s. That would make a good dogs’ name, don’t you think! Bailey and Mom went out to the front porch. She was gone for a long time. Something about watching the family of hummingbirds that appreciate the sugar water she gives them along with her friend Bailey!
I heard Mom tell Papa that I finally drove her to drink! When she came back she looked mighty relaxed! Papa wanted to know why she didn’t invite him!
Think maybe I went a bit too far?
This is my life. My name is Gigi.

( 3.1 / 106 )I am here to defend myself a little. First, I AM the cutest thing around here....ask Sheryl!
Yes, I may be a bull in a china cabinet - right now. In my defense, I am still a young puppy. I am only ½ a year old. Even in dogs years that is not a lot! Mom says I am suppose to be a pain in the - well you know where.
I know how to have fun. I love the litter box. Frankie and Kayla leave great treats in there. You may think that is disgusting - but have you ever tried it? I love to run. I love to chew rocks! Mom doesn't like that much. She isn't happy about the litter box either.
My whole life is about to get even more exciting. My brother is coming home. I miss him lots. As memory serves, he knows how to have fun too! If he forgot anything, I have lots of new tricks to teach him. Actually, I think he was the one who taught me about the litter box. Mom may never have to clean it again with the two of us helping.
Mom says I am very smart, very attentive(which means I pay close attention) and very pretty. Gigi thinks she is the only show dog here...well, I am one too! Watch out Gigi – my brother and I have your number!!
Hello Mom, just who told Josie she could use the computer?

( 2.9 / 141 )Mom says we have to get ready today to leave for Vegas in the morning at "Oh Dark Hundred"! What the heck does that mean?
It will be a busy two weeks. I am going to two dog shows. She wants me to think purple! I'll think about it! Can I see purple?
Our first show is in Burbank....I GET TO SEE CLAIRE and MELODY!
Clarice is coming to this show and Dee too! Dee already told me that she is riding in the front seat! Well I'm telling you...I am riding in your lap!
It is a special trip for Clarice and Mom is a little sad about it. We have to stop at Dr. Lesser's office – he is a big time cardiologist for dogs! Maybe Clarice has a heart murmur...I had to look up what "murmur" meant. I am sure it is not the one that means a "soft-sounded and quiet utterance/talking "under your breath". You all know Clarice. She is a real tomboy! When she talks it sure isn't a quiet utterance! When she talks we all listen. Even Mom!
It could be an abnormal heart sound but I have put my head on her chest lots of times and her heart sounds good to me. She plays with me now. Yes, she actually rolls around and licks me. We are good friends and I know that she has a good heart. I was smart to make friends with her early on...while I was still a cute little thing (BTW, I am still cute)...I know who the boss is around here. Mom says she doesn't have favorites but I know that Clarice is very special to her.
Well anyway, Dr. Lesser will tell Mom for sure. Mom says we have to look at everything from the bright side. Maybe she doesn't have a murmur and that would be wonderful. No sense worrying about it. Like Abigail says...”It is what it is”. Mom says that Abigail is a very smart young lady.
Hey, Bridget....the other smart young lady in our family turned 14 years old! WOW! That is so old! When we go down to Vegas, Mom and Papa are taking Abigail and Bridget out for some yogurt. She told me not to get my hopes up....I was not going! But I LOVE yogurt! I am turning a year old....don't I deserve yogurt too!? Something about Vegas being too hot to leave a dog in the car...do they have Rangers and mountain lions in Vegas too? And just 'who' is a dog?!
Speaking of eating...this is for you Sally...I made Mom's heart sing! Last night I ate LOTS of kibble. I was hungry! It's Mom fault! She is not catering to me anymore. She says she is taking the 'hard road' with me. If the hard road means she is trying to starve me to death...it's working! She only gives me one kind of food - boring....and leaves it down for only a second! ONLY ONE LITTLE SECOND! How am I suppose to think about eating in that short a time! She is getting pretty smart with the chicken too. She cuts it into really small pieces so I have to eat kibble with it. Have to admit, I slept pretty good with a full stomach! This morning I ate – Mom says pretty good. Is this woman never happy!! I ate great - just how big do you think my stomach is anyway!
I better make sure she doesn't get to use to this...I don't want to make it a habit you know!
I am going to miss Cedar. There is great cool air and plenty of space to run around. WOW, did you see Mom's mums? They (Papa and Mom) worked very hard, I understand, last year making a planter and putting in baby mums. Mom says you always get things as babies so you can watch them grow. That is part of the fun! They really grew up this year.
Mom loves it here...so does Papa! We are coming back after the dog show....a trip to Oregon...another dog show! Have no clue what Oregon is but the rumor is that I get to play with Dee...she is such a softy!! I can get her to hand fed me real easy - just watch!
HEY HEY HEY....did I tell you....Josie's brother is coming home. I remember him. Josie is all excited. She says finally someone her own age that will help terrorize the household! Mom explained to me that he was not stolen. He went to someone who was going to be his new mom...but because he makes his hair go all over the place...she got allergic to him! Mom says I am to be nice because his mom is very sad and he will be sad (just for a little while) to leave her too. Hey, I'm sad too....another Josie around here...Give me strength!
This is my life. My name is Gigi.
Wonder what these taste like?

You expect me to 'walk' on these rocks!
