Lest we forget, I am a city girl! Maybe you think a rabbit and a spider are cute...I on the other hand think we need to move back to the city.
Mr. Jack is gone...after Mom prepared him such a fine meal...at least she thought it was fine. Think it was a commentary on her cooking? OK so you didn't actually cook...you just set a table for him, with water too! Really Mom!
Some pellets and nice greens for Mr. Jack. And yes the first night he did eat it all and then proceeded to finished off one of the bushes! He is one smart rabbit!
Mom says you have to look on the bright side. The bushes needed to be dead-headed...Mr Jack did her a favor. Just wait until they come back next year all full of flowers...yea, I bet Mr. Jack is waiting for that too!
Apparently the internet is a wonderful thing according to Mom. She checked for rabbit resistant plants. Day lilies and lavender are now in our planters. Mr. Jack isn't suppose to like them. Hope he reads the internet! Mom hopes so too because the planters look really good now. She left the rabbit plants there...first to show Mr. Jack that he ate them all...move on to the pellets. Better yet, Mom says there are some mighty fine weeds growing ...he should take a liking to them. Good luck with that!
With the bushes all eaten down now...Mr. Jack hasn't come back. Good thing Mom only bought a small bag of rabbit food. I actually think she is disappointed!
You really wanted a wild rabbit for a pet? You don't have enough mouths to feed around here?
Well maybe Mr Jack didn't like the day lilies or the lavender but something else sure did. We had another visitor! Thinking this one was not as welcome as Mr. Jack.
Abigail and Mom were sitting outside on the front porch. The rest of us were waiting for them to come back in... patiently... well OK maybe we weren't so patient about it but at least we were all quiet. Mom was watching the hummingbirds fight over the nectar she put out. She is such an Italian! She feeds everybody! There are four hummers that live near the front porch...there are two feeders, ten holes they can eat out of and still they fight over who gets to eat from what hole! Amazing. Mom says it provides her with lots of entertainment.
While they (that being Abigail and Mom) were sitting there nice, quiet – enjoying the moment...Mom noticed a movement on the ground...Holy Cow...a spider the size of a dish!
Papa had just left to go upstairs to work...Abigail said that as soon as Grandma (that is what she calls our Mom) started to scream...she knew it was not a good thing. She didn't even want to look... Papa heard her and ran down the stairs. Actually I think the whole neighborhood heard her!
The spider was right in front of the door as Papa was opening it...so Abigail and Mom started to scream more...”NO NO...IT'S RIGHT THERE!!! DON'T LET IT GET IN THE HOUSE! No kidding, don't let it get in the house. The little I saw of it...I think it is bigger than me.
Papa jumped back first then jumped over the spider. OK so now everybody but us dogs are outside. Just what do they think being outside with the monster is going to accomplish. No gun! No defense! Not too bright an idea folks! Mom wants a gun...would someone please get her a gun. It sure would come in handy for times like this - maybe?!
Who is inside protecting us? I'm going to have to take control! Clarice you stand guard, the rest of us are heading for the bed!! Nico get the heck out of my way! Woman and children first!
My Papa, he is so brave. As Mom tells the story...he went to find a stick...came back with the pooper scooper. Mom had her iPad so she thinks. “I should take a picture while Papa is thinking about how to handle this situation". She gets some good shots of the monster. When Papa gets back with his weapon of choice, she thinks, I should take video. Love this iPad!
Now Papa is nice and calm...actually the spider is pretty calm too! As I understand it, Papa was going to scoop up the spider and move it to the empty lot across the street. As ugly and scary as they look...they are really good for the environment so they don't want to kill it! Ask me, do I really care about the environment? Not when there is a gigantic spider on the loose I don't...not me, no way for sure!
Take a look at how it all worked out. Also, take notice that Mom and Abigail left Papa, my poor Papa outside with the monster and actually closed the door on him!

( 2.9 / 106 )Perfect! Perfect for who?
You can see the big dark clouds rolling into our little valley. Black and full of rain! Every now and then a light jumps out of them and hits the ground – Papa says it's lightening! Then a great big boom comes from the sky. Papa says that is Thundar, the great god of bowling making all the noise. OK, maybe the grand girlies believe him...I have my doubts!
The wind is wiping – yes wiping – around the house. The pillows on the chairs are blowing away...heck, the chairs are heading down towards my park...not to mention Nico's hair is blowing wild away from his body - you can see his butt!! A bit more of him is showing then I need to see.
Mom wants us all to go potty. NOW! You want us to potty NOW...Do you see that storm coming? First, I can't pee under pressure! Second, add in the fact that the wind keeps blowing my back legs up! I promise to keep my little paws crossed...JUST LET ME IN THE HOUSE! I am not Dorothy – I want to stay in Kansas!
Pray tell what are you doing getting the camera? How about getting us inside where it is nice and safe.
Mom loves storms. She says it makes her feel all excited inside. A little scared too. There was a warning on the radio that the storm is bringing heavy flood rains, hail the size of a 50cent piece and watch for a tornado! A TORNADO!!
OK no more pictures...I want in and I want in NOW!!!
Mom says we are not to worry. Mom has a tornado plan. You have a plan? Do you remember I only weight 7 pounds? Do you know how easy it would be to get caught up in a tornado. I would end ...well I don't know where I would end up...but I bet it would be very far from home!
OK, woman tell me your plan? Make it quick!
Papa takes you. I will take the Squirt. We tell all the cavs if they want a cookie they better follow us. We head to the little storage room under the stairs in my office.
Then what?
Then we sit and wait to see what God has in store for us.
Not sure I like the sit and wait part! What about Frankie and Kayla?
They can follow us or they will have to fair on their own. They are smart – they will follow us.
Finally, the sun came back out. No rain, no hail and thank you God – no tornado! Mom got some great pictures. The storm went around us – to the east, to the west. You could see it all around us. Mom says how amazing it was...you could actually see that God was protecting us. See how nice that works out.
OK, You are a crazy woman...and I can go pee now!

( 3 / 114 )Don't you go and name him! He is a wild rabbit! He is not a pet! Got it!? Mom are you listening?
My Mom – give me strength! Papa shows her a baby rabbit the other night that is eating her bushes. HE IS EATING HER BUSHES! That is not a nice thing that he is doing. He is sitting in the middle of the driveway cleaning his face – probably after making a meal on what is left of her plants! I say get a gun! Let's have rabbit stew! Rabbit is good eating!
OH Crap! I recognize that look on Mom's face!
OK so maybe he is cute with those really big ears. Mom says he is a Jack Rabbit...OH GOD...here it comes...she is going to name him – Jack!
You know what happens after you name something don't you? Yep food. Now Mom feels responsible for him. She went out for rabbit food. She told Papa it was to keep him from eating her plants...yea right! So last night she put out greens, rabbit pellets and of course fresh water for....oh give me strength – Jack.
Will someone tell this woman that it is a wild rabbit and can take care of itself!
WHAT IS THAT SMELL? Can't be the rabbit pellets, can it? Mom and Papa left us alone for hours to run some errands and whatever they got must have gone bad while they were enjoying a long dinner without us...What fun is dinner without all of us sitting by their elbow watching them - hoping for just a small taste. Plus, when you eat out they don't give you dog hair with your food...now how sad is that!
OK the smell....it has a familiarity to it. Simon has got his nose in the air. His eyes looked like they are glazed over...Nico is even smelling the air. He is getting all excited...which by the way...I think he is getting hormones...don't tell Mom but I think her baby is growing up...he tried to lift his leg out in the dog run yesterday...he wasn't very successful!! Makes for a good laugh to watch him!
OK OK OK...I know you want to get upstairs to see if “Jack” ate his food last night...back to the smell...
What the heck..I know exactly what it is...a bully stick! You boys gross me out!! You better chew that down in Mom's office when I am not there!
Yuck and double yuck!
This is my life. My name is Gigi.
P.S. Hey Nico...If you can find me just a little bully stick...I guess I could chew on it in Papa's office.

( 2.9 / 74 )WOW! Papa has been with Mom for 24 years!! That is like an eternity in dog years! And he is still smiling! Got to give the man credit....
Hey, it is my anniversary too you know!
Yes, but I live with you...I know you...Papa has to be a brave and strong man to survive you!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PAPA! I love you!
You too Mom! You can have the day off!! As soon as you finish the laundry, wash a dog, go walk 2.5 miles and make Papa breakfast!
Thank you...just so you know...Papa and I are going out to dinner. HE appreciates me.
Oh Sure...like did you not see I ate breakfast without fingers or coaxing this morning! I appreciate you! Just wait until tomorrow morning!
This is my life. My name is Gigi.

( 2.9 / 106 )A boyfriend! You want me to find a boyfriend? What is that suppose to mean? I have to get tested?? For what? I could get married and have babies? You think you can just spring this one on me. No warning? No conversation? And just where do babies come from anyway?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Oh No! Not me! No Way! Think again lady!
Gigi, we are just talking about it. It won't happen for at least six long months. We, Claire and I, are just thinking about it and looking around for a handsome young man – certainly we would ask your opinion and he would have to meet with your approval.
I am not going to discuss this with you...end of story – next topic!
Boy the house sure got quiet. The girlies go home? It was hard trying to keep an eye on not only the girls but Andrea too. Talk about a spoiled puppy! She takes the cake. When she first got here I thought I would have to stuff her mouth with my fist! I sat her down and gave her a good talking too! Finally, I got her to settle down. I assured her that her girls although they would be in and out of the house alot - sometimes gone for hours...leaving us alone and worried - all by ourselves, with no human company, having fun in a pool and shopping...
We get the point Gigi - move on!
Anyway...they would not leave for home without her...My Mom assured me of that! She finally did settled down. Boy she sure doesn't like Nico, especially when he sits on 'her' Moms' lap! Little green eyed monster behind those cute brown eyes.
I am sure, after a long nap, I will miss her. I already miss the girlies!
What do you mean not for long? They are coming back already? When? Just Abigail? Andrea too? Oh Geez Mom!! I like Abigail...Andrea – OK, I will just have another good long talk with her! My duties as Queen never seem to end.
By the way, does Nico know about your plans for me?
This is my life. My name is Gigi.
